Quartz worktops have a hardness of 7 in the Mohs hardness scale. (Diamond is 10 on the Mohs hardness scale.) Unlike other worktops Silestone is highly resistant however should not be mistreated. For best results ensure using chopping boards when chopping with sharp blades. The resistance of the Silestone worksurface is achieved by infusing quartz (hardness) and polyester resin (elasticity).

To maintain the Silestone worksurfaces, wipe with a dry cloth to remove dirt. A plastic scouring pad  and washing up liquid should be used to remove grease and stains that are ingrained. For best results ensure not to use products like wax, sprays or sealant as it can cause the worksurface to loose its sheen.

Silestone is available in three different textures. The most popular texture is the standard polished finish. Also available is a leather finish which has a textured finish. The leather finish gives the worksurface a textured yet soft touch finish. This luxurious textured worksurface may require extra care and attention.

Another texture available is the new Volcano worksurfaces which is both rustic and soft. Unlike the leather texture it is easy to maintainable. Cleaning the Volcano quartz worksurfaces couldn't be simpler, simply wipe down with soap and water.
